Almost one year after their shock engagement, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are said to finally be getting ready to tie the knot in a spectacular wedding on Depp’s island, Little Hall’s Pond Cay.

Almost a year to the day since news emerged that the Mortdecai actor was officially off the market after popping the question to his 28 year old fiancée; the New York Post’s Page Six gossip hunters have revealed that Hollywood stars Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are putting together the final preparations for an intimate island wedding ceremony, due to be staged next week on Depp’s Bahaman home, Little Hall’s Pond Cay.
Located in the Exuma Land and Sea Park region of the Bahamas, Johnny Depp has been calling Little Hall’s Pond Cay for just over a decade now, after the Hollywood star purchased the 45 acre island for a very reasonable price of USD 3.6 million in 2004. Home to 6 beautiful beaches and accessible only by seaplane or boat, the island forms the perfect retreat for the notoriously private star, who once described the island as “instant freedom”.
Depp looks set to be swapping his instant freedom for a ball and chain, however, as report of a private island wedding gather pace. The rumours have been rife for some time now, with stories of “a small intimate ceremony barefoot on the beach” circulating for the best part of a year. Yet whilst the famous phrase “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” doesn’t necessarily ring true in the gossip biz, it seems this time, there could be some truth behind the tales would-be wedded bliss.
For one thing, the dates certainly add up – with Depp set to start shooting the latest Pirates of the Caribbean caper in Australia next month and Heard currently shooting a new movie in London, the February 7-8 weekend is the “only time that everyone could get together,” explained an insider source quoted in Indian news blog www.mid-day.com. So at least there are no pesky schedule conflicts to get in the way!
Even the dress is said to be organized, with various sources claiming that Ms Heard will be walking down the aisle wearing a chic gown designed by Stella McCartney.

As for the wedding itself, the happy couple are said to be expecting a party of just fifty guests – predominantly made up of family members and their closest friends. It’s interesting – and perhaps understandable – to note that whilst Depp’s two children are on the guest-list, his ex-girlfriend of 14 years, Vanessa Paradis, has not been invited.
Despite the surprisingly small number of guests, however, Gossip Cop reports that there won’t be enough room at the private island inn for the vast majority of the revellers. Indeed, whilst Captain Jack Sparrow’s alter-ego is said to have built a modest, solar-powered compound on the island, many of the couple’s guests will be overnighting on Depp’s 1930s-inspired, ten-bedroom yacht, Vajoliroja.
Little Hall’s Pond Cay has formed something of a cornerstone in the relationship between Depp and Heard, with the couple flitting to the island at every opportunity in order to enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation. The versatile Hollywood hero and old-school romantic is even said to have named a section of the island after his fiancée, after noticing one of the coves followed the same contour as her hip. A fitting destination indeed for what could be the showbiz wedding of 2015!
Edit: It has since been confirmed that Johnny Depp has married his fiancée Amber Heard in a (not so) secret wedding service in Los Angeles. The private ceremony precedes a larger event in the Bahamas, where the newliweds will be celebrating in style with friends and family on Depp’s private island, Little Hall’s Pond Cay.
