Life is a rush for the British survival expert and TV documentary maker Bear Grylls, who lives with his wife and three children on a houseboat moored on the Thames in London. So when he is not making shows in the US (Man Versus Wild) and UK (Born Survivor), or managing his own brand of clothes and accessories, Bear escapes with his family to their tranquil private island, just six miles off the north Wales coast.
It took a lot of time and work to clean up and convert their 20 acre island, from a rat infested mess to a peaceful place to spend quality time away from the madness of modern life.
St Tudwal’s Island West, which Bear purchased in the late nineties, is located just off the Llyn Peninsula in Gwynedd, not far from Abersoch on the mainland.
