All Change on the Isle of Eriska

The Isle of Eriska Hotel and Spa, an exclusive private island holiday destination in Scotland, has been taken over by Creation Gem, a family-owned company based in Hong Kong.

The private island, located off the west coast of Scotland near Oban (Argyll), covers 300 acres and includes a 25-bedroom five star hotel with a Michelin-starred restaurant. The property also includes a six-hole par 22 golf course, a nature reserve and recently renovated spa and leisure facilities.

The sale of the popular private island retreat was brokered by international island experts Vladi Private Islands.

Upon completing the sale of the island, Wayne Rong, the principal of new owners Creation Gem, issued the following statement:

“My family and I are offering a bridge of friendship from beautiful Shanghai to stunning Scotland. We are honoured to continue as the custodians of such an iconic property and aim to protect and nurture the island, securing a bright future for Eriska for years to come.”

Holding good on their promise, Mr Rong and his team have already committed a significant investment towards the future, announcing the development of four new hilltop reserves and an extensive renovation of the island’s iconic main house.

Legacy Continues

Despite the changes, guests needn’t worry about a change in ethos, explains General Manager Gordon Cartwright. “The quality and intimate guest experience [of the Isle of Eriska] will be wholly preserved,” he explained.

“A change of ownership doesn’t mean a change in ethos and guests new and old can still expect the roaring fires, luxury, comfort and excellent service from the committed island team, along with a memorable dining experience,” continued Cartwright. “Eriska is about providing an island getaway that is totally unique, not just in location but because the experienced team delivers on the small details that make all the difference. As general manager, I’m committed to preserving the legacy that has made Eriska an icon of hospitality for over four decades.”
