International island hunters have just over a month to prepare themselves for what could well be the sale of the century, as breaking news suggests that Innocent Island – one of the world’s hottest private island properties – is set to go up for auction on May 15th.

By far and away the largest privately owned island in the Bahamas, Innocence Island is a sprawling 681 acres of secluded bays and sensational beaches. Once offered for an eye-watering USD 55 million, sources close to Private Island News suggest that the island has a reserve of only USD 10 million, promising the potential of a real bargain for one bidder.

Sprawling over a phenomenal 681 acres of bays, beaches and beautiful scenery, Innocence Island (formerly known as Hog Cay) is by far and away the largest private island in the Bahamas. However, it’s not the island’s impressive size but its huge development potential that has got investors on stand-by.

Home to a spectacular 3,000 square foot residence, an eye-catching observation gazebo and ample staff quarters, whilst it would be perfectly possible to maintain the island as a private hideaway, the smart money suggests that the creation of an exclusive island resort is a more plausible future for the private island idyll.

The foundations are very much in place, with the island’s stylish main house already enjoying considerable success as a rental destination. Perched atop the island’s highest elevation, the six-bedroom, six-bathroom behemoth has proven popular amongst discerning jet-setters, promising picturesque panoramas of the Caribbean Sea from every angle.

The island promises more than just eye-catching accommodation opportunities, however, and even boasts its own 2,500 foot airstrip – one of the region’s few private runways to lay claim to its own pilot code (MYEY). Easily accessible and yet totally secluded, this private island has had only four previous owners to date – could you be the fifth?!

The auction of Innocence Island is set to take place on 15th May 2014 at Trump SoHo New York on a strictly invite-only basis. Bidders are requested to register their interest in writing to Concierge Auctions in advance of the auction. Stay tuned to Private Island News to keep abreast of all the latest developments.
