Second Private Island Vacation for Barack Obama

After working such an all-encompassing job for the best part of a decade, it would be easy to think that Barack Obama may have problems settling into the quiet life post presidency. So far, however, retirement seems to be treating the former President very well indeed.

Barely a matter of weeks after returning from an all-action kite surfing and snorkeling extravaganza on Sir Richard Branson’s Caribbean hideaway, Necker Island, the former President of the United States is once again packing his bags ahead of yet another private island vacation: this time to French Polynesia eco island The Brando.

Swiftly evading the watchful eyes of the global paparazzi, the former President landed in Tahiti by private jet in the early hours of March 15th 2017, before boarding a smaller, twin-prop aircraft and travelling out to The Brando, which is located in the nearby Tetiaroa Atoll.

Formerly the Tahitian royal family’s favourite retreat, the atoll rose to prominence in the 1960s after Hollywood heavyweight Marlon Brando purchased it shortly after completing historical drama Mutiny on the Bounty.

After undergoing a spectacular redevelopment, the atoll now forms one of the world’s most cutting edge private island escapes and is a favourite amongst ecologically aware celebrities such as Leonardo di Caprio, who famously celebrated his birthday on the island last year.

Healthy Work-Life Balance

Whereas Obama’s first private island vacation was purely for pleasure, the former President will also be making time to put in a bit of work on his latest private island adventure.

As well as finding the time to practice his latest hobby (kite surfing), the President will also be dedicating a large chunk of his month-long stay on the island to writing his memoirs, for which he recently signed a USD 60 million-deal with publishers Penguin Random House.

We’re sure that at The Brando Mr Obama will find the perfect conditions for peaceful reflection about a turbulent two terms in office and just hope he’s not distracted by the spectacular South Pacific scenery.
